Changing the default font in Word is not obvious. We’ll show you an easy way to do this. Open an existing document or enter some text in a new document. Select some text and click the “Font” dialog box button in the “Font” section of the “Home” tab.

To modify the defaults, you can use the Set Defaults tab of the Manage Styles dialog box. To display that dialog box, click the Manage Styles icon in the Styles pane (Ctrl+Alt+Shift+S). Before closing the dialog box with OK, select "New documents based on this template." Stefan Blom.
The quickest way to change the Windows 11 font is through a Windows Registry edit, which we'll do by creating a REG file. Open Settings, and select Personalization on the left, followed by Fonts
It does not change any of the fonts or sizes. So I select "Clear Formatting," which then changes the paragraph. I then redo the select Report Text, and it is back the way it is. Helvetica is still there and still larger. Then I use the font menu at the top and select Calibri, but it does not change the Helvetica text.
To embed fonts in Word for Mac, open Word>Preferences>Save and check the options for Embed fonts in the file and Embed only the characters used in the document. Then use File>Save As. 1. Open the merge document through the parameter file (not the finished product document). 2. Highlight all the merge fields at once. 3. Select Styles and Formatting from the Format menu. A window appears showing the current format. 4. Select the 'Normal' formatting to each of the merge fields.
The font specification is controlled by a Style called Envelope Address which is stored in that template. You can edit the Style rather than working through the Tools> Envelopes dialog by going to Format> Style. Be sure to check the box labeled Add to template. Colleagues and I are working on a document that is saved in Sharepoint. I believe the text was saved as Normal Body font style (Calibri 12). As any of us either opened the document in the browser to work on, or in Word 2016 to work on, several paragraphs or parts of paragraphs would have been changed to a different font.
